Genesiv's content moderation is split up into 3 parts, each with its own purpose and function in your community:
- Profanity Filter: Prevents users from sending messages that contain offensive words Show warnings to users attempting to use offensive words.
- Banned Words: Prevents users from sending messages containing certain specified words. Show warnings to users attempting to use banned words.
- Alert Words: Track the usage of certain specified words and send alerts to chosen channels when these words are detected.
To begin setting up content moderation, first head to the content moderation page in your community settings.
Profanity Filter
Toggle on your profanity filter, and enter a warning message that will be displayed to any community members who attempt to send an offensive word into your channels.
Genesiv has compiled a list of default profanities that will be caught by our profanity filter. You can view and edit this list by first clicking on 'Edit Default List'. On the pop-up window, click on 'Show List' for an extensive view of all our targeted profanities.
If you'd like to permit certain words from the default list, just type them into the 'Exclude Profanities from List' box. This tells the system that these words are allowed in your community.
Conversely, if you'd like to restrict additional words not already on the default list, you can do so by typing them into the 'Add Profanities to List' box. This expands your personalized filter to catch and handle these words."
Once you're done, simply click on 'Save' and save your changes!
Banned Words
To set up your banned words, simply type all the words or phrases you want to prevent from being sent to your server. This is a separate list from your profanities, and can be used to target more industry-specific words. The warning message presented to members will also be separate from the one presented for profanities.
Alert Words
To set up the words you want to track, simply type all the words or phrases you want to track the usage of.
Once that's done, you're going to pick a channel where alerts will be sent to whenever these alert words are detected in your community. When selecting a channel, we recommend creating a private channel that can only be accessed by community owners, and administrators. This way, these alert logs will only be visible to a select group of people, instead of being public to community members.
Once you have your Alert Channel ready, simply select the channel and save your changes.
